A 19-year-old Nigerian student of Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket is facing a sexual assault charge after an underage female student accused him of cornering her outside a locker room.

Oluwasegun Sanni was arraigned on Monday following his arrest on March 17, 2026, and charged with second-degree sexual assault.

According to a police report obtained by NBC 10 News, the minor, whose identity is being protected, told police the encounter left her distressed.

She alleged that Sanni pushed her against a wall, grabbed her neck, attempted to kiss her, and touched her inappropriately.

Following his court appearance, a strict no-contact order was issued, despite both students attending the same school. The judge instructed Sanni to avoid any form of interaction or acknowledgment, even in shared spaces or corridors.

Parents and students said the school notified families about the situation and advised against spreading rumors. In a statement, the school confirmed it is aware of the “serious allegation” and is cooperating with authorities.

It added that student safety remains a top priority, while ensuring a fair and respectful process for everyone involved. Sanni has since been released on personal recognizance as investigations continue.
