Manager Enzo Maresca opted to rest several first-team regulars, giving the opportunity to a youthful Chelsea squad, and they did not disappoint.
The Blues asserted control from the opening whistle, with Tyrique George testing Astana goalkeeper Mukhammedzhan Seysen early with a curling effort that narrowly missed the target.
Pedro Neto also had a chance saved, but it wasn’t long before Chelsea took the lead in the 15th minute.
Marc Guiu, showing maturity beyond his years, picked up the ball in midfield and embarked on a brilliant solo run, finishing confidently to give Chelsea a deserved 1-0 lead.
Chelsea doubled their lead shortly after when Astana defender Aleksandr Marochkin bundled Neto’s low cross into his own net. The Blues were in complete control, and just before the halftime whistle, they made it 3-0.
Renato Veiga rose to meet a perfectly delivered corner from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, heading home with precision.
