The Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has presented a N535.6 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the House of Assembly.
Yahaya described the budget proposal as a “Budget of Consolidation” aimed at sustaining the state’s growth trajectory and deepening development gains recorded under his administration.
According to the Governor, “The budget is strategically aligned with the Development Agenda for Gombe State (DEVAGOM) and designed to consolidate the achievements of the last six years in infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, and industrial development.”
The Governor explained that out of the total sum of N535,691,983,000, N164.25 billion (30.66%) is earmarked for recurrent expenditure and N71.44 billion (69.34%) for capital projects.
He stated that the proposed budget was structured to harness Gombe’s vast potential for greater prosperity, adding that the 2026 Appropriation reflects his administration’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, equity, and inclusive growth.
The governor stated that in the 2025 fiscal year, the approved budget of N369.9 billion was later revised upward to N451.6 billion through a supplementary appropriation.
By September 2025, the state recorded N336.48 billion in recurrent revenue, about 126% of the initial projections, prompting the supplementary review.
He explained that the total budget performance stood at N219.03 billion, representing 60.12% implementation as of September 2025.
