Budget details show that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) emerged as the highest beneficiary, with an allocation of ₦244.26 billion, reflecting its expanding role in the protection of critical national assets, infrastructure and public spaces across the country.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) followed closely with ₦200.80 billion, as the agency continues to strengthen border control, migration management and passport administration amid rising cross-border security concerns.
Similarly, the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) was allocated ₦198.85 billion, underscoring the Federal Government’s focus on prison reforms, inmate welfare, rehabilitation and decongestion of correctional facilities.
The Federal Fire Service (FFS) received ₦44.29 billion, aimed at enhancing emergency response capacity, fire prevention, and disaster management nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior Headquarters was allocated ₦5.58 billion to cover administrative and policy coordination functions, while the Civil Defence, Immigration and Prison Service Board (CIPB) received ₦2.64 billion to oversee recruitment, promotions and discipline across the paramilitary services.
The combined allocation brings the total proposed budget for the Ministry of Interior to ₦696.42 billion in 2026.
Analysts note that the spending plan reflects the Federal Government’s continued emphasis on internal security, border management and correctional reforms, as the country grapples with security challenges ranging from terrorism and banditry to migration pressures and public safety concerns.
