Key figures urged to fully align include Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi; former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai of the SDP; and former Sokoto State governor, Senator Aminu Tambuwal of the PDP.
Addressing journalists after a strategic meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, the coalition’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed that the decision to rally around the ADC was taken to avoid distractions linked to the unregistered All Democratic Alliance (ADA).
“The Coalition has rested everything concerning the ADA. That means, they are not interested in the registration or otherwise of the association,” Abdullahi said.
He further noted that all presidential aspirants within the coalition have agreed to support whoever emerges as the flagbearer through a transparent primary process.
The meeting, which was attended by high-profile politicians, included ADC National Chairman David Mark, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Nasir El-Rufai, Aminu Tambuwal, and former Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi.
The coalition also resolved that the ADC National Working Committee (NWC) will soon announce the dates for primary elections in Osun and Ekiti States ahead of the upcoming off-cycle governorship polls.
