The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against undermining its political prowess.

The spokesperson for the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this while responding to claims that the APC had underrated the ADC for not having any state governors.

Speaking to Punch, Abdullahi warned that underestimating the opposition coalition is a mistake.

He asserted that the ADC is focused on building a solid country and presenting a valid alternative for Nigerians.

According to him, “It’s good. Let them continue to underrate us. When we started, they said it was dead on arrival. When we announced our coalition, they said they gave us six months. So, let them continue to underrate us. It’s better for us.

“But we are not underrating them; we are not underrating the challenges and the enormity of the task ahead of us. Because what we seek goes beyond ourselves; it goes beyond just winning the 2027 elections. It is not just to win power, but to build a solid country. So, we are not underrating the challenges that we face.

“So, let them continue to underrate us. There is no problem.”

He noted that the party had started attracting new members even before the commencement of its aggressive membership drive.

“It is not about targeting a particular number of people because you know it is a new party. Once the structures are set up at the state level, you will see an aggressive membership drive. Even before we start that, I know how many people are trooping into the party on daily basis.

“That is so because ADC is the only party that presents an alternative to Nigerians. Every Nigerian that is tired of the current suffering going on in this current administration is welcome into the party. All Nigerians of voting age who want to be members of our party will be welcome.

“Also, people from any party, whether PDP, NNPP or APC, are all welcome to our party, that is why we are coalition. The party’s door will not be shut on anybody. The only thing is that when they come in, they have to abide by the principles of the party,” he said.
