The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has clarified that Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, is not involved in the campaign advocating for him to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the next Governor of Lagos State, as reported by Vanguard.
Speaking during an interview with Seun Okinbaloye, Olawande addressed the growing speculation surrounding Seyi’s political future. He emphasized that while Seyi Tinubu possesses the qualifications and capacity to lead Lagos, he is not behind the endorsements or campaigns promoting his candidacy.
“Seyi is not the one engineering the campaign to become the next governor of Lagos State,” Olawande stated unequivocally. He attributed the ongoing speculation to the natural tendencies of people to project ambitions on public figures, especially those with influence and visibility.
The minister further highlighted Seyi’s credentials, describing him as a well-trained and capable individual who has significantly impacted the lives of many young Nigerians. “He is not too young to become a governor, that’s the truth. Seyi is a well-trained young man who has built a lot of young people, even when his father was not the president,” Olawande added.
Conversations around Seyi Tinubu’s potential governorship bid gained momentum in 2024 when the socio-political group Friends of Seyi Tinubu (FOST) publicly endorsed him for the position. However, despite the increasing buzz, Seyi Tinubu has neither confirmed nor denied any political aspirations for the 2027 general elections.Tap Here for the Full Story
