Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of orchestrating violence following unrest at an APC stakeholders’ gathering in Akure.
In a statement attributed to Sowore, he alleged that violent attacks were carried out against members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by individuals reportedly linked to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Sowore claimed the incident occurred during a meeting convened to plan a party congress in Akure, the Ondo State capital. He further alleged that the disruption left several party members injured, including APC chairman Ade Adetimehin.
The activist also referenced a June 12, 2025 protest, alleging that similar tactics were used at the time.

He accused the governor of mobilizing individuals from outside the state and rewarding them with control over transport revenue operations — claims that have not been independently verified.
In addition, Sowore raised allegations involving the Nigeria Police Force, suggesting political interference in security matters within the state. These claims remain unconfirmed.

As of press time, Governor Aiyedatiwa and the Ondo State Government have not issued an official response to the allegations.
Political observers have called for calm and urged security agencies to investigate the incident to establish the facts surrounding the reported violence.
