Three workers at Solar Energy by Delight Limited, Peter Moses Nwaefuwa, 27, Charles Elegbulem, 41 and Adeyemi Kuye, 42, have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly stealing the company’s solar panel materials worth N160m.

LeadNaija reports that the incident happened between 2024 and 31st of July, 2025, at No. 31A Fani Kayode Street, GRA Ikeja Lagos, where the company is located.

According to the Police, the suspects were alleged to have stolen the items in bits without the knowledge of the company until recently when the company embarked on an internal audit and discovered the theft.

The Suspects

The matter was reported to the Police at Ikeja Division and the suspects were arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the missing items and they were unable to explain what happened.

The Police found them culpable after rounds of interrogation and charged them before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

COUNT I: “That you, Peter Moses Nwaefuwa ‘m’, Charles Elegbulem ‘m’ Adeyemi Kuye ‘m’, and others now at large, between 2024 to 31st of July, 2025, at Fani Kayode Street, GRA Ikeja Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire with others now at large to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

COUNT II :  “That you, Peter Moses Nwaefuwa ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same month and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal fifty (50) pieces of solar batteries, twenty (20) inverters, one hundred and fifty (150) diov, fifty (50) fan panels 200 units with total value at N 160,000,000.00 (one hundred and sixty million Naira only) properties of Solar Energy by Delight Limited and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.”

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Supol Philip Ademigbuji, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail with sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.
