Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has raised over ₦20.5 billion through her 65th birthday education fund to complete the National Library in Abuja, a project that has remained unfinished for more than three decades.
Presidential aide, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this on Tuesday, noting that the Federal Ministry of Education will directly manage the fund to ensure proper accountability and timely delivery of the project.
The National Library, conceived as the country’s apex knowledge hub, has been stalled for years due to funding constraints.
With this intervention, government officials and education stakeholders say there is renewed optimism that the landmark edifice will finally be completed.
According to Onanuga, donations toward the initiative remain open until December 2025.
