According to a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, troops responded to a distress call over an attempted attack on a Nigerian Immigration Service facility at Ruwa Wiri Village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
During the operation, troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, killing two suspected terrorists, while others reportedly fled due to superior firepower. Security forces subsequently recovered two AK-47 rifles, ammunition and a motorcycle from the scene.
In another operation in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State, troops on fighting patrol intercepted terrorists moving with rustled livestock around Danya Bakwai Settlement.
The terrorists reportedly abandoned 62 livestock during the confrontation as troops advanced. The recovered animals were later handed over to their rightful owners at the palace of the Daddara District Head in Jibia LGA.
