How To Combat Body Odour

Kindly Share This Story:

Body odour, is a common problem, can be linked to sweating profusely and smelly feet. It is quite embarrassing.

No one wants to repel people or cause them discomfort by one’s presence. This alone can affect a person’s self-esteem and self-worth.

A person with body odour is likely to sweat more and may notice a change in how they smell.

This condition is aggravated by strenuous exercises, hot weather, hormonal changes, being overweight, having health conditions like diabetes, kidney disease and liver disease and certain medicines like antidepressants.

You can easily treat mild body odour yourself by:

  • wash your armpits, groin and feet at least twice a day with soap and dry thoroughly
  • shave your armpits regularly
  • use antiperspirants and deodorants
  • change and wash your clothes regularly
  • wear natural fabrics like cotton, wool and silk
  • wear antibacterial socks

Ensure you do not eat too much strong-smelling or spicy food or too much coffee or alcohol, as they have a way of adding to the way you smell.

A pharmacist can assist with stronger antiperspirants, armpits, or sweat shields to protect your clothing, foot powders for sweaty feet and soap substitutes that are gentler on your skin. If the body odour is intense, you may need to see a doctor, and See More. .
