Lagos Tops FAAC Allocations as States Share Billions in First Quarter of 2026

New figures showing allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) indicate that states received billions of naira between January and March 2026, with Lagos emerging as the highest recipient.Continue »

According to the figures, Lagos received a cumulative allocation of ₦200.21 billion within the three-month period, maintaining a significant lead over other states.

Oil-producing states dominated the top positions, with Delta receiving ₦143.41 billion, followed by Rivers with ₦123.96 billion, while Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom received ₦114.48 billion and ₦109.76 billion respectively.

Among non-oil states, Kano ranked highest with ₦75.04 billion, followed by Oyo at ₦68.98 billion.

Other notable allocations include:

  • Ondo — ₦53.50 billion
  • Jigawa — ₦55.74 billion
  • Katsina — ₦52.58 billion
  • Borno — ₦52.38 billion
  • Anambra — ₦52.17 billion

At the lower end of the ranking, Ekiti recorded ₦17.12 billion, making it the lowest among the figures released.

Analysts note that FAAC distributions are influenced by multiple factors including derivation revenue, population, equality of states formula, internally generated revenue considerations, and other statutory allocation principles.

The figures are expected to continue generating debate over revenue distribution, fiscal federalism, and state-level economic performance across Nigeria.
