A Nigerian soldier has gone viral after alleging that powerful “cabals” are behind Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, claiming they sponsor vi%lence to gain access to mineral-rich areas for illegal activities.
In a video shared by SaharaReporters on June 8, 2026, he said he knew military rules restricted speaking on social media but felt compelled to speak out, saying “my heart is boiling.”
He claimed insecurity is deliberately created in areas where minerals are discovered:
“This issue of insecurity is caused by cabals… they are using insecurity as a distraction.”
He alleged that communities are driven out of resource-rich areas:
“They cause insecurity… to scare villagers and farmers away.”
According to him, the actors are powerful, well-connected, and operate behind the scenes, even influencing political structures and weakening governors’ control in some cases.
He further said insecurity distracts security forces while illegal activities continue, especially in the North-East, which he described as highly rich in solid minerals that could boost Nigeria’s economy.
Fearing possible retaliation, he warned: “The cabals must be stopped,” and urged people to “ask questions” if anything happens to him.
He also referenced the prolonged Chibok and Dapchi abd¥ctions, asking, “Who knows where it is going to happen tomorrow?”
He added that t+rrorist groups persist because sponsors can allegedly continue recruiting fighters despite military operations.
