Human rights activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) leadership of masterminding what he described as an unlawful assault, abduction and detention at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
In a statement posted on his verified X account on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Sowore alleged that officials of the secret police coordinated operations against him before and after his court appearance.
The activist claimed that security operatives intimidated and harassed him from the Kuje Correctional Centre to the Federal High Court, adding that the court premises and courtroom were effectively taken over by DSS personnel.
Sowore Rejects DSS Investigation Claim
Reacting to reports that the DSS was investigating those involved in the incident, Sowore dismissed the move as an attempt to mislead the public.
According to him, the operation was allegedly planned and coordinated by senior officials within the agency.
He specifically accused the Director-General of the DSS, Tosin Ajayi, of bearing responsibility for the events, while also alleging that the agency’s Director of Operations supervised activities on the ground.
The DSS has not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of this report.
Activist Alleges Plot Was Foiled
Sowore further claimed that supporters gathered outside the court premises frustrated what he described as the intended objective of the operation.
Parts of the incident, he said, were captured on video, while other events allegedly occurred away from public view.
The activist maintained that neither intimidation nor detention would deter his political and human rights activities.
‘The Struggle Continues’
Reaffirming his commitment to activism, Sowore vowed to continue exposing what he described as abuses of power and oppression.
“We will continue to resist oppression, expose wrongdoing, and confront those who abuse power. The struggle continues until justice prevails,” he wrote.
He also predicted increased public resistance against injustice, insisting that history would ultimately judge those responsible for alleged abuses.
