Abuja Tanker Explosion: Six Dead, 14 Vehicles Destroyed in Karu Bridge Inferno- Police Sources

Multiple fatal motor accident at Karu Bridge, Abuja, on Wednesday evening left six people dead and 14 vehicles destroyed in a raging inferno, a police sources confirmed to Zagazola Makama.

The sources said that the accident, which occurred at about 6:58 p.m., was caused by a Dangote trailer fully loaded with cement that suffered brake failure while heading from AYA to Nyanya.

The truck lost control and crashed into stationary vehicles caught in traffic, triggering a massive fire.

Eyewitnesses reported that the impact of the crash triggered a series of blasts, sending fireballs and debris soaring hundreds of meters into the sky.

Some projectiles were flung nearly a kilometer from the crash site, causing panic among residents and road users as commuters scrambled for safety.

Police operatives and emergency response teams, including the Fire Service, swiftly intervened to contain the fire and restore order.

Six victims were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to Karu Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed them dead.

Their corpses have been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
