Adakole Elijah, Former PDP Media Aide Resign Position

Adakole Elijah, a former media adviser to ex-Senate President David Mark, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Elijah, who also served as the campaign director for Senator Abba Moro during the 2023 elections, made his decision public in a statement issued on Wednesday.

His resignation comes just days after his former principal, David Mark, was named interim national chairman of the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In his statement, Elijah attributed his decision to the deteriorating state of affairs within the PDP, describing the party as a shadow of its former self.

“With sentiments of profound reverence and an abundance of gratitude to the Omnipotent Providence that has guided my existence, I take up my pen to formally notify you of my irrevocable decision to relinquish my membership of the People’s Democratic Party, effective forthwith, as denoted by the date aforementioned,” he wrote.

“The rationale underpinning this momentous determination is inextricably linked to the seemingly intractable and deleterious state of affairs presently afflicting the party, which has unfortunately become characterized by an atmosphere of unbridled acrimony and jaundiced perspectives.”

“Notwithstanding the foregoing, I would be remiss if I failed to express my sincerest appreciation to you and the entire membership of the party for the cordial and convivial relationship that has been fostered and nurtured during my tenure as a member of this previously venerable organisation.

“Your collective warmth, camaraderie, and bonhomie have not gone unnoticed, and I shall forever cherish the memories of our shared experiences.”
