The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Osun State has suffered yet another setback following the withdrawal of one of its prominent members and a long-standing ally of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Alhaji Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, from the Omoluabi Progressives.
Adeoti, a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Deputy Leader of the Omoluabi Progressives, conveyed his decision in a letter dated November 30, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of the group at its Ayinke Towers Secretariat in Osogbo.
In the letter, Adeoti said he was stepping away not only from the Omoluabi Progressives—which he co-founded but also from all its activities going forward. He described the choice as a tough one, citing the significant time, energy and personal resources he had devoted to stabilising the group during what he called its “turbulent period” since inception.
He further revealed that intense pressure from members of his immediate and extended family compelled him to take “a short rest from all political activities.”
“I want to specially thank every one of my fellow Progressives for the level of trust reposed in me while in the group,” the former SSG stated, while praying for the continued success of the current leadership.

Adeoti’s exit comes barely 24 hours after he lost the ADC governorship primary held on Wednesday, where a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam, clinched the party’s ticket ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
Political observers see the development as another blow to the ADC’s cohesion, raising fresh concerns about the party’s preparedness for the crucial 2026 contest.
