The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised the Presidency for suggesting that President Bola Tinubu has no plan to extend his tenure beyond 2031, saying the statement is presumptuous and a sign of arrogance in power.

In a statement on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party said President Tinubu’s mandate ends in 2027 and insisted that Nigerians would not want him to remain in office for a day longer.

“The Presidency’s hurried reaction to Nasir El-Rufai’s claim that President Bola Tinubu wants to be a life president only proves what many Nigerians have suspected that this government is out of touch and dangerously complacent,” the ADC said.
