Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for removing the names of convicted criminals from the recently released presidential pardon list.
In a statement shared via his verified X handle on Wednesday, Adeyanju praised the President’s responsiveness to public criticism, describing the move as “a positive step for Nigeria’s democracy.”
“I commend President Tinubu for removing the names of convicted criminals from the presidential pardon list. This shows that the president listens to criticism and this is very good for our democracy,” Adeyanju wrote.
However, he urged the President to exercise caution with those responsible for compiling the initial list, noting that such lapses could undermine public trust in governance.
