Another tragic boat mishap has claimed six lives in Sokoto State, with three others still missing, just six days after a similar incident occurred in the region.
The accident happened in the early hours of Thursday, August 21, 2025, at about 5:30 a.m. in Garin-Faji, a riverside village in Sabon-Birni Local Government Area.
According to a statement from the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), six bodies have so far been recovered, while 19 people were rescued. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining missing individuals.
