Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Thursday inaugurated the construction of the 8.8-kilometre Akure–Ijare Road at Ikota Junction in Ijare, Ifedore Local Government Area, describing the project as a strategic investment in the state’s infrastructure renewal drive.

The Governor said the road, long considered critical for mobility and economic activity, would ease transportation for residents, stimulate commerce, and enhance access to farmlands and markets within the corridor.

Traditional ruler of the community, who received the Governor alongside his chiefs and residents, hailed the project as a “generational legacy,” noting that successive administrations had failed to address the poor state of the road, which has hindered development in the area for years.
Aiyedatiwa assured the people that his administration would continue to prioritise roads that connect communities and support agricultural productivity, stressing that improved road networks remain key to economic expansion and rural–urban integration.
Residents and stakeholders expressed optimism that the project, once completed, would open fresh opportunities and strengthen socio-economic activities across Ifedore and neighbouring areas.
