Aiyedatiwa presents Staff of Office to Olu-Oke of Oke-Igbo — Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has officially presented the Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to Oba Akintoye Felix Adeoye, marking his recognition as the new Olu-Oke of Oke-Igbo in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area of the state.
The event, held on Tuesday, November 3, 2025, brought to an end several years of traditional and legal disputes that had engulfed the ancient Oke-Igbo community. The governor said the ceremony symbolized the triumph of justice, peace, and respect for Oke-Igbo’s native laws and customs.

Governor Aiyedatiwa explained that Oba Adeoye’s emergence followed a court ruling that nullified a previous appointment, restoring the rightful traditional process of selection in accordance with the community’s customs. He emphasized that the new monarch’s reign must usher in unity, reconciliation, and grassroots progress for all residents.
“Your emergence, Kabiyesi, is a product of due process and respect for the rule of law,” Governor Aiyedatiwa said. “You must lead with fairness, embrace all factions, and work toward lasting peace and development in Oke-Igbo. Our people deserve stability after years of division.”

The governor appealed to other contenders and stakeholders to accept the outcome in good faith and to support the new traditional ruler. He further encouraged the community to close ranks and focus on collective growth, describing the throne as a symbol of unity and cultural identity for the people.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, infrastructure, and rural development, Aiyedatiwa highlighted several initiatives undertaken since his assumption of office. He mentioned ongoing investments in the Amotekun Corps, improvements in the health sector, and road construction projects spanning the 18 local government areas of the state.
“We will continue to strengthen security architecture and enhance the welfare of our people. Oke-Igbo will benefit from our renewed focus on community-driven development,” he assured.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for handling the chieftaincy issue with maturity and due diligence. He noted that the peaceful resolution of the matter had restored public confidence in the state’s traditional institution management system.

Also speaking, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Chairman, Adeboye Adebare, praised the governor for upholding justice and transparency throughout the selection process. He stated that the peaceful resolution of the Oke-Igbo dispute demonstrates the governor’s “unwavering belief in the rule of law and respect for cultural heritage.”
In his acceptance speech, Oba Akintoye Felix Adeoye expressed deep gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa and the people of Oke-Igbo for their support. He pledged to rule with wisdom, fairness, and compassion while prioritizing peace and reconciliation among all groups.
“I accept this responsibility with humility and a deep sense of duty to my people,” the monarch said. “We must all work together to heal wounds and build a stronger, united Oke-Igbo.”
As part of his first act of leadership, Oba Adeoye announced a ₦50,000 empowerment grant for 100 women traders, honouring Governor Aiyedatiwa’s grassroots empowerment initiatives. He described women as the “pillars of economic survival” in the community and promised more inclusive development programs under his reign.
Traditional rulers, political leaders, community chiefs, and religious figures from across Ondo State attended the colourful ceremony, which featured cultural performances and prayers for peace and prosperity.
With the presentation of the Staff of Office, the Oke-Igbo throne, which had been vacant and contested for years, finally witnessed a peaceful transition — signaling a new era for the historic town.
