Sean Kingston, the American-Jamaican singer known for his 2007 hit “Beautiful Girls,” has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison for his involvement in a $1 million luxury goods fraud scheme. His mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, was also sentenced to five years.
Kingston was convicted in March 2025, alongside his mother, for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud.
Kingston exploited his celebrity status to scam victims, obtaining luxury items like a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, several high-end watches, and a 19-foot LED television. He used fake wire transfer receipts and promised social media promotion, which he never delivered.
U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz ordered Kingston’s immediate imprisonment, rejecting a plea for delayed surrender based on medical grounds. Kingston’s defense team argued he lacked financial discipline and was repaying some of the victims.
Kingston and his mother were arrested in May 2024 during a SWAT raid at his Fort Lauderdale mansion. Despite his legal troubles, Kingston remains celebrated for his early career success with “Beautiful Girls.”
Sean Kingston’s sentencing highlights a major fall from grace for the former teen sensation, as he faces the consequences of his involvement in a high-profile fraud scheme.
