The governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo on Friday, September 27, accused his predecessor, Willie Obiano, of leaving a backlog of N22.2 billion outstanding retirees’ arrears.
Soludo disclosed this at a meeting with heads of primary schools in the state.
He said the arrears were backlogs of gratuity owed retired civil servants in the state between 2018 and 2022.
According to the governor, N14.6 billion out of the N22.2 billion is money owed to retired local government workers and primary school teachers.
In addition, the governor noted that the remaining N7.6 billion is money owed to civil service and secondary school retirees.
He further said that the state was working tirelessly to ensure these debts were cleared.
Soludo also stated that his administration is committed to prompt payment of entitlements to every retiree in Anambra State. Full Details
