A lady identified as Aphrodite took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her doubts over the robbery attack that led to Sommie’s death. She wondered how gunmen could invade a person’s home and ignore valuables, only to go straight for her life.

She wrote in Pidgin English: “Armed robber enter your house, e no take money, e no take your car. Went straight to your bedside. Six feet now you’re down. Which armed robber no want money? Na political armed robber be dat. Na wetin dey kill Nigeria o 🥺.”

Her words sparked discussions online, with many Nigerians questioning if Sommie’s death was more than just a robbery.

According to reports, the 29-year-old journalist was killed in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025, in her Katampe home in Abuja. The Nigeria Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

Sommie was not only a familiar face on television but also a lawyer, colleague and friend to many. She was known for her warm smile, engaging voice and passion for storytelling. Arise TV described her as a vibrant soul who connected deeply with viewers.
