Bafana Bafana put on a powerful display as they defeated Zambia 3‑1 in an international friendly on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
The South African side broke the deadlock just before half-time. Sipho Mbule drove forward from midfield, outmuscling the Zambian defenders before playing through Oswin Appollis, who slotted home to make it 1–0.
Early in the second half, Mbule was again involved, this time providing a curling assist from outside the box for substitute Mohau Nkota, doubling the lead in the 62nd minute.
The third goal came shortly afterward, when Sphephelo Sithole rose unchallenged to head home from a corner, giving Bafana a commanding 3–0 lead.
Zambia managed a consolation in stoppage time through Joseph Sabobo Banda, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
The win serves as an encouraging sign for South Africa ahead of their upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign.
For Zambia, the result may raise some concern, but as a friendly, it offers valuable lessons as they prepare for bigger challenges ahead.
