Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has called out social media critic VeryDarkMan, accusing him of spoiling the businesses of Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba entrepreneurs by promoting Chinese-made Xr phones converted to iPhone 17 Pro Max.
In a video shared on his social media page, Portable lamented that the influencer’s actions are affecting local businessmen, including tech entrepreneur Blord, whom he described as a “real businessman.”
According to Portable, the influencer’s endorsement of Chinese phone brands disguised as iPhones is discouraging customers from patronizing legitimate Nigerian tech vendors.
He said,
“VeryDarkMan keeps spoiling Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba businesses by promoting Chinese Xr converted to iPhone 17 Pro Max. Blord is a businessman. Now people that give me endorsement deals, he’s spoiling their business.”
The outburst has since stirred reactions online, with many Nigerians debating the ethics of promoting cloned devices and the impact on local businesses.
