A large contingent of Boko Haram fighters, also known as Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Wal-Jihad (JAS), has been spotted moving in water vessels from the Loko Libi and Darak areas along the Nigeria-Cameroon border, sources have confirmed.
The heavily armed insurgents are reportedly heading towards Marte Local Government Area of Borno State, where the headquarters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) is located.
The movement could signal a fresh confrontation between the rival terror factions, as Boko Haram elements appear to be mobilizing for battle against ISWAP in the Lake Chad region.
