Three ruling houses in Iwo, Osun State, have filed a suit at the State High Court seeking the deposition of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, over allegations linked to the reported exhumation of the remains of past monarchs from the sacred palace burial grounds.

The Ogunmakinde Ande, Adegunodo, and Alausa ruling houses described the alleged action as a serious breach of Yoruba monarchical tradition, insisting it is unacceptable and contrary to the sanctity attached to the throne and the resting places of past kings.
