BREAKIN: FG/NUPENG Meeting Deadlock: Strike Fully On Day Two

After several hours of heated arguments in a Federal Government, NUPENG and Dangote group meeting to resolve anti-labour activities at the Nigerian private oil refinery, negotiations ended at 12:03am on Tuesday morning in a deadlock.

This implies that NUPENG continues the strike – a three day warning strike of Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) stands.

The red alert sent to 43 unions of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) remains, with the threat to join NUPENG in the strike by PENGASSAN and over 30 other unions affiliated to Trade Union Congress (TUC) are unchanged

Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Mohammed Dingyadi, has provided a voice note to further explain the outcome of the closed door meetings, further confirming wordies of a possible energy crisis in the country.

The meeting which was earlier scheduled for 10:00am on Monday, started by 5:30pm and those present at the meeting were the two Ministers of Labour, the acting General Secretary of the NLC, the Secretary General of TUC, the NUPENG President and General Secretary, Aliyu Dantata of MRS Company, representatives from Dangote group and officials of the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
