Twelve senior South African Police Service (SAPS) officers and a company director are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court this morning on charges of corruption, fraud, and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) over a controversial R360 million tender.
The case relates to the alleged irregular awarding of an occupational health services contract to Medicare 24 Tshwane District, linked to businessman Vusimuzi Matlala, which was later cancelled despite being intended to benefit about 180 000 SAPS employees.
