A consortium involved in the $5 billion Lagos-Abuja Super Highway Project has announced that preparations are complete for the commencement of the 470-kilometer road.
They said that they are awaiting the FEC’s approval before they can proceed to the site and begin the actual construction.
This project is designed to decrease the travel duration between the two cities, cutting it down from around 12 hours to roughly four hours.
The construction of the highway will be carried out through a partnership between the public and private sectors, and it is anticipated that it will operate as a toll road.
Chief Kenny Martins of the AEC Unity Network Limited, who leads the consortium, expressed optimism that the $5 billion endeavor will get underway by the end of 2025.
Martin expressed appreciation for the contributions made by the Works Minister, Dave Umahi, and other officials in the presidency and federal ministries, stating that the initial phases of the project, including design, studies, and approvals, have been completed.
He said, “What is left now is for FEC to give us the needed approval for the take-off and flag off of the project.
“The super highway will facilitate easier and cheaper means of commuting by road between the two great cities to the glory of God and the benefit of our country men and women.
“In fact, our company plans to have a spur at a suitable area along the superhighway to enable passengers and commuters heading towards Ondo State as well, at the appropriate time and upon subsequent approvals by the supervising authourities.
“We are already in talks with the government of Niger State to construct a spur in Niger State to link the Baro Port go increase its viability.”
