BREAKING: Acting Borno State Governor Kadafur Assents To ₦892.448 Billion 2026 Budget

The Acting Governor of Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur, has signed into law the 2026 Appropriation Bill, with a total budget size of ₦892.448 billion.

Mohammed Goni reports that the 2026 budget was designed to address the state’s most pressing needs, with strong emphasis on sectors that directly impact citizens’ welfare with the document reflecting government’s commitment to sustainable development, improved service delivery, and post-insurgency recovery.

The budget had been passed by the Borno State House of Assembly.

The Governor had initially presented ₦890.33 billion budget proposal to the Assembly for consideration with allocations cutting across ministries, departments, and agencies, with priority given to education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, and the rehabilitation and reintegration of internally displaced persons.

After thorough scrutiny, the House approved an increase about ₦2.37 billion, bringing the total budget to ₦892.45 billion.

Speaker of the House Abdulkarim Lawan says additional funds were earmarked mainly to strengthen the health and education sectors, others include the construction of a lecture theatre at the College of Nursing and improved infrastructure at the College of Health Technology, Maiduguri.
