BREAKING: ASHDC Inaugurates Newly Elected Onitsha Bridgehead Housing Estate Executives

The Authorities of Anambra State Housing Development Corporation, ASHDC have set machineries in motion to commence revenue drive against defaulters of property rates payments in all the Housing Estates in the state.

Managing Director of the Corporation, Chief Chike Anyaonu who disclosed this while Inaugurating the newly elected Chairman of Bridgehead Housing Estate, Fegge, Onitsha at Onitsha South Local Government Area, Chief Obiorah Chukwuemeka Egbuna and his executive, said the drive became imperative to recover huge amount of monies owed to the state government as a result of non payment of the property rates by majority of the landlords in all the existing housing estates in the state.

Anyaonu contended that the residents of the estate cannot be complaining about dilapidated roads and other infrastructural decays in the estate when in fact they are owing a lot of revenues to the state government in terms of property rates and other revenue sources.

He therefore charged the new executive of the estate to assist the state government in collecting all the arrears of revenues to avoid embarrassment as according to him, in the next one month if the landlords fail to pay up, the corporation would have no other alternative than to commence the drive by itself.

He commented the Obiorah Egbuna led executive for emerging victorious during their recent election, adding that their victory is a sign of implicit confidence reposed on them by the entire residents of the estate and charged them to be up and doing.

He also reminded them of the need to work towards returning Governor Chukwuma Soludo for a second term in office so as to tackle the bad roads and other infrastructures in the estate.

In his post inaugural speech, the newly elected chairman, Obiorah Egbuna offered a hand of fellowship to those who contested the election with him and lost, adding that they are going to work together for the betterment of the residents which is the primary objective of his administration.

He said he had already commenced a reconciliation process immediately after his election in May, to the extent that some of the outstanding disputes he inherited from his predecessor have been thrashed out, while few others are being looked into with a view to resolving them amicably.

In their separate speeches, Hon. Emma Ekelobe, President of Onitsha Estate Investment Cooperative, ONEICO and Hon. Ikedim Ikegwuonu, one of the contestants during the election, expressed optimism that Egbuna would take the estate to the next level and pledged their unflinching for him.
