Riyom, Plateau State – Monday, 6pm: Armed bandits launched a large-scale attack on Rim and Jol communities in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, forcing villagers to flee as violence escalated.
Eyewitnesses told Leadnaija News that the attackers stormed the villages in hundreds of motorcycles, burning down homes and destroying farmlands in the process.
As of the time of filing this report, casualties are yet to be ascertained, but multiple houses have already been set ablaze, and residents have deserted the affected communities.
Security forces have not yet issued an official statement, and efforts to confirm the scale of damage are ongoing.
The Plateau region has witnessed recurring violence in recent months, often linked to armed groups targeting farming communities.
