Boko Haram insurgents have killed at least two soldiers in an attack on a military base in Rann, Kala Balge LGA of Borno state.
Military sources revealed that the fighters stormed the army battalion base in the early hours of Monday.
During the raid, the gunmen reportedly set armoured tanks ablaze and carted away an unspecified quantity of ammunition.
The sources said some soldiers fled into Cameroon after intense fighting with the insurgents.
“There was another Boko Haram dislodgement on our base in Borno. The CIO Battalion in Rann, Kala Balge, was attacked by them. They killed two of our soldiers and injured many others.
“Some who managed to escape left their duty post and fled with their arms into our neighbouring country, Cameroon,” a military source told Sahara Reporters.
The attack comes months after 22 soldiers, including a commander, were killed in Malam-Fatori, Abadam LGA, during another assault on a military base.
