Navy veteran and union electrician Brian Nathan has declared victory over Republican Josie Tomkow in the race for West Tampa’s state Senate seat, in a district Trump won by 7+ points.
He was outspent ten to one by the Republican candidate and still managed to come out on top by vowing to fight for pocketbook issues and ripping Republicans for being “distracted by divisive culture wars.”
“Democrats have the wind at our backs and we will continue contesting seats up and down the ballot across Florida and the country,” Ken Martin, chair of the Democratic National Committee, said in a statement. “No Republican-held seat is safe.
Brian Nathan is one of many in a new working-class Democratic cohort of candidates running against corrupt Republicans on economic populist agendas, like oysterman Graham Platner in Maine and union ironworker Brian Poindexter in Ohio.
They’re the vanguard of a new political future where the needs of working families are put above the greed of corporations – and where Republicans like Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are held accountable for their crimes.Get The Full, Details. .
