The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses across Nigeria, in a move aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and boosting the formalisation of micro and small enterprises.
According to the commission, the initiative is designed to reduce the cost of doing business for small-scale entrepreneurs and encourage more informal businesses to register officially.
Although details on eligibility criteria and the application process are yet to be fully disclosed, the CAC said the programme will cut across all states of the federation, ensuring nationwide participation.
The commission urged interested small business owners to monitor its official communication channels for updates on how to apply and key timelines.
The free registration scheme has been welcomed by business owners and startup advocates, who describe it as a timely intervention to support small businesses amid economic challenges.
