Fuel scarcity may hit Nigeria again following reported plan by operators of Dangote Petroleum Refinery to shut down the facility.
The proposal to close down the 650,000-barrels-per- day to production, according to Punchng citing Reuters as its source is for maintenance sake.
“Barring any last-minute change, the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote refinery is expected to shut down its petrol-producing unit for maintenance.
“According to Reuters, the maintenance, which may occur in June, will last for 30 days,” the publication wrote.
The report also contains the petrol price hike issue occasioned by the naira-for-crude deal between local refineries and the federal government, which six-month agreement ends today.
It, however, remains to be seen whether the naira-for-crude deal would be renewed or not by the committee in charge.
“Nothing new has happened. Probably after the holidays, the committee will sit and meet,” CONTINUE READING it quoted a senior government official familiar with the deal as saying.
