Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has officially announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking before a jubilant crowd at the party conference, Mbah said the decision followed “a long period of reflection,” adding that it was time to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for national development.
“Today, after a long period of reflection, we have decided to leave the PDP and join the APC,” Mbah declared to thunderous cheers, before joining supporters to sing the popular APC anthem, “On Your Mandate We Stand.”
The historic event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, 23 governors, and several top party leaders, who described Mbah’s defection as a major political shift in the South East.
Mbah’s move officially cements the APC’s growing influence in the region and is seen as a significant boost for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
