The Federal Government has proposed a 40 per cent salary increase for members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) ahead of a fresh round of negotiations with the union.
According to government sources, the proposal is part of efforts to ease long-standing tensions in the tertiary education sector and address welfare concerns that have fuelled repeated industrial disputes.
ASUU is expected to return to the negotiation table in the coming days to review the offer and present its position.
