BREAKING: FG Proposes N6bn Upgrade, Solar Road Interventions To Nine Palaces

Nigerians would have to look out for changes that would take place in nine palaces and their proximal roads as they have been identified for federal interventions in the proposed 2025 appropriation bill.

The intervention would separately be targeted either directly at the palaces for upgrade, proximal roads for construction or solar light installation and ecological challenges threatening the palace premises.

Five out of these projects are “new” projects captured for quick intervention in various ministries by the federal government while the other four are “ongoing” projects.

Top of these interventions for the sum of N400,000,000 (Four hundred million Naira) proposed, would be for the renovation of the palaces of the Alamuwo of Kuje Amuwo, in Lagos state and the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, these projects would be executed by the ministry of housing and urban development..Tap Here for the Full Story

It is followed in value term, by a “new” project for the repair of the Offa Palace to Ariku Oko road, proposed at N100,000,000 and to be executed by the ministry of works.

Two other new projects captured in the budget are the provision of solar powered boreholes in compliance to climate change adaptation around the chief palace area Bmuko in Bwari Area Council at N15,500,000 only and the provision of motorized borehole beside the Ter Makrdi Palace in Benue State at the cost of N10,410,000 Ten million Four Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira) only to be drilled by the Lower Benue River Basin Development Authority, under the Ministry of Water Resources.

Also, for solar-powered light installation, the Olosi Palace and its environs, Osi town of Kwara state, are the “ongoing” projects with a proposal of N30,000,000. The project was proposed by the Ministry of Power and would be executed by the National Rural Electrification Agency.

The other, an “ongoing” project by the Ministry of Environment, proposed at N30,000,000 to cover erosion control of the royal palace road, Mbiabong Ikot Etim, in Akwa Ibom state.

Two other projects proposed for N40 million each, are the construction of town hall at isinkan, Iralepo’s palace, Akure in Ondo State. The Ondo South Local government project would be executed by the Benin/Owena River Basin Development /Authority and the rehabilitation of the Tal district head palace at Tal Billiri in Gombe state. The “ongoing” project would be funded from the budget of the Nigerian Institute of Building and Road Research Institute in Lagos.

According to the Budget document, the Iga Idungaran old Oba of Lagos palace and the Zaria City Walls, Kaduna would benefit from a new proposal of N10,000,000 (ten Million Naira) only by the National Commission For Museum and Monument.
