Chief Audu Ogbeh, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has died at the age of 78.
Family sources confirmed his passing on Saturday, though details surrounding the cause of death were not immediately disclosed.
Ogbeh, who was born on July 28, 1947, in Benue State, was a prominent Nigerian politician, writer, and farmer. He served as Minister of Agriculture from 2015 to 2019 under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and had earlier made his mark in Nigerian politics as the PDP National Chairman between 2001 and 2005.
Reacting to the news, a family spokesperson described him as “a man of integrity who dedicated his life to public service and the advancement of Nigeria’s agricultural sector.”
Tributes have begun pouring in from political leaders, associates, and admirers across the country, praising Ogbeh’s decades-long contribution to governance, rural development, and food security.
