Iranian missiles have targeted US military bases in Iraq and Qatar, according to Saberin News, a media outlet close to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
Unverified footage on social media shows explosions over the Qatari capital of Doha as the missiles appear to be intercepted.
Several explosions heard over Doha
Sounds of several explosions were heard over Qatari capital Doha, a Reuters witness said this evening, following Tehran’s threats to retaliate against the US for strikes on Iranian nuclear sites.
The blasts could be heard in central Doha and in Lusail north of the Qatari capital, and projectiles could be seen moving across the night sky.
Explosions have been heard over Doha after Iran launched a missile attack on a US base in Qatar.
Western officials told Axios that Iran had fired six missiles toward at least one US base in the Gulf country.
Officials said earlier that the Al-Udeid base, located just outside of Doha, was facing a “credible threat”. Trump administration officials are convening in Washington DC.
The base is home to US Centcom’s HQ and British military personnel also serve there on rotation. However, many planes have been moved in recent weeks, satellite imagery shows.
