Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has ordered that popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, be placed on a no-fly list following a disturbing tarmac altercation with the crew of ValueJet Airlines at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
In a detailed post via his verified X (formerly Twitter) page, Keyamo disclosed that he had received video footage and incident reports from all relevant aviation agencies involved. Describing the situation as a “temporary loss of sanity and control on both sides,” he condemned the actions that could have led to fatal consequences.
Kwam 1 Blocked Aircraft from Taxiing
According to Keyamo, video evidence confirms that Kwam 1 repeatedly changed positions on the tarmac in a deliberate attempt to block the aircraft from taxiing to the runway, an action the Minister likened to a hostage situation.
He described the behavior as “totally unacceptable” regardless of whether the artist was carrying water or alcohol at the time.
“The physical blockage of the aircraft from taxiing is the reprehensible conduct here,” Keyamo stated.

Criticism of the Pilot’s Actions
However, the Minister also faulted the pilot and captain of the ValueJet aircraft for beginning taxi procedures without first ensuring that the passenger had been safely removed by airport security.
“No amount of provocation should make the Captain and Pilot of an aircraft begin to taxi while an individual is standing in front of the plane,” he said.
Both Sides Violated ICAO Safety Protocols
Keyamo noted that both Kwam 1 and the airline crew violated International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) safety protocols.
He acknowledged the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s (NCAA) decision to suspend the pilot’s license pending a full investigation but questioned why Kwam 1 had not also been subjected to disciplinary action.
“What applies to the goose must also apply to the gander,” the Minister declared.
“I will not sit idly by and allow this to pass.”
Official Sanctions Imposed
In light of the incident, Keyamo has now directed the NCAA to immediately place Kwam 1 on a no-fly list, pending a full investigation. He further instructed all domestic and international airlines to enforce this directive, warning that failure to comply could result in the withdrawal of their operating licenses.
The move marks a bold and unprecedented stance in enforcing safety and behavioral standards at Nigerian airports.
