The Traffic Monitoring and Investigation Unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has impounded 57 commercial vehicles and tricycles for various traffic violations.
The enforcement action was carried out during a comprehensive operation at Iyana Ipaja garage and its adjoining roads.
Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the ministry, detailed the focus of the operation, which targeted both inbound and outbound traffic in the busy area.
According to Ogunlola, the vehicles and tricycles were apprehended for offenses such as illegal parking and picking up passengers at unauthorized spots, which caused significant traffic obstruction.
“These violations not only disrupt traffic flow but also contribute to the overall congestion in the area, making it difficult for law-abiding road users to navigate through the roads,” she explained.
Ogunlola further noted that the enforcement operation successfully cleared the area of vehicular congestion and restored smooth traffic flow.
The operation was part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with traffic regulations across the state, particularly in high-traffic zones like Iyana Ipaja.
“The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation remains committed to maintaining order on our roads and will continue to carry out similar enforcement actions as necessary to achieve this goal, Continue To read>” Ogunlola added.
The impounded vehicles and tricycles are currently in the custody of the ministry, and the owners will face the prescribed penalties for their infractions.
