The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, has reportedly declared human rights activist and #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, wanted for allegedly “disturbing public peace.”-LeadNaija News Report
Sowore made this known in a post shared via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle earlier today, where he claimed that the declaration followed what he described as the failure of police officers to execute a “shoot on sight” order purportedly issued by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, during a protest in Oworonsoki, Lagos.
“Despite my repeated attempts to contact Commissioner Jimoh, he has not taken my calls; nevertheless, I plan to meet with him soon to address his declaration,” Sowore stated.
As of press time, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the alleged declaration.
The development comes amid heightened tension following nationwide demonstrations demanding better governance and an end to alleged police brutality.
