Palmer, an England international with 11 caps, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s standout talents since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 for £40 million. The versatile 22-year-old, capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or winger, has delivered 36 goals and 21 assists in 62 appearances for Chelsea.
Last season, Palmer was named the Premier League Young Player of the Year after surpassing Eden Hazard’s record for the most goal involvements in a single campaign for the club. With a contract running until 2033 and his happiness at Chelsea, Palmer’s departure seems unlikely in the near future.
However, in a statement made available to THE METRO on Monday. despite this, Morgan, a prominent Arsenal supporter, couldn’t help but imagine Palmer in Arsenal colors.
Taking to social media platform X after Palmer’s brace in Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 win over Tottenham, Morgan wrote, “Cole Palmer is brilliant. Would love him at Arsenal.”
Morgan didn’t stop there. Following Arsenal’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Fulham on Saturday, he criticized manager Mikel Arteta for not addressing the team’s need for a top striker. “Terrible result,” Morgan posted. “Arteta’s refusal to buy a top striker is yet again coming back to haunt us. Get your chequebook out in January, @m8arteta – please!”
Arteta, however, has previously dismissed the notion that Arsenal lack an elite center-forward, arguing that the team’s current attacking options are sufficient. Nonetheless, Morgan’s frustration echoes the sentiment of former Arsenal defender William Gallas, who recently urged the Gunners to sign a new striker. Gallas, however, expressed doubts about Arsenal’s ability to secure Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres, who has attracted attention from several top clubs.
