As part of its efforts in fast tracking integrated rural development programmes and projects, the North East Arid Zone Development Programme (NEAZDP) Yobe State Government, in partnership with the nine LGAs within its operational area, has commenced a large-scale fumigation exercise aimed at tackling mosquito infestation and curbing the rising cases of malaria.
The official flag-off ceremony, led by the Programme Manager, Dr. Mulima Idi Mato, was held in Gashua, where drainages, water receptacles and many other places such as hospitals and community centers were fumigated to mellow down the spread of mosquitoes, and subsequently reduce the prevalent malaria attacks.
The campaign will subsequently cover all the headquarters of the remaining LGAs.
The event was graced by the Executive Chairman of Bade LGA, represented by the Vice Chairman, alongside the Council Secretary, and Staff of Environmental Health Office.

The fumigation campaign will be extended to Bursari, Geidam, Jakusko, Karasuwa, Machina, Nguru, Yunusari, and Yusufari LGAs.
